Humbly, we write to officially register our profound appreciation to each and everyone of you for joining this genuine crusade – GFF MUST GO!
Earlier today, three of our Executive Members had an interface with a Commissioner at the Office of the Inspector General of Police. The meeting was fruitful as they were given the opportunity to discuss at length on the way forward.
Having acknowledged that the Commissioner displayed utmost professionalism, hospitality and respect towards them, our representatives narrated that after a warm welcome, they enlightened the Commissioner about the creation of the movement, its purpose, recent engagements and developments; most importantly, they asked about the status of the permit letter and stated cogent reasons as to why it should be granted.
In response, the Commissioner acknowledged receipt of the letter, and quickly notified them that their team is conducting a thorough assessment of the matter putting into consideration the risk factors and high possibility of traffic obstruction, a counter application of our permit by another group calling for – GFF TO STAY among other things. He emphasized that, in as much as it is our constitutional right to protest, we should understand that such a right is limited, and permit is always granted based on their informed assessment. According to him, they will need more time to finish their assessment before reverting to us in regards to our fate.
We believe that the so-called group called *“GFF MUST STAY”* have contributed to the delay of the permit forcing the Police not to grant us a permit.
On that note, we wish to inform everyone that the protest will not be going as scheduled. *FOR NOW, DO NOT TAKE TO THE STREETS!* While urging you all to continue being law abiding citizens, we wish to reassure you of our commitment to keep engaging the authorities until we achieve the common goal.
In closing, we will keep you informed of any developments!
*INTERIM EXECUTIVES,*
*GFF MUST GO!*
