The exercise’s focus was on various areas, including detecting explosives, combating drug activities in maritime waters, firefighting, and evacuation procedures.
The primary objective was to assess the organization’s ability to respond effectively to potential disasters.
Several security agencies attended the event, including the Gambia Navy personnel, the State Intelligence Services (SIS), the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEAG), the Gambia Immigration Department (GID), and port officials.
The participation of these agencies aligns with international standards and aims to ensure the safety and security of ports, which serve as crucial entry points susceptible to organized crimes like terrorism and drug trafficking.
By conducting such exercises regularly, the Gambia Ports Authority demonstrates its commitment to maintaining a high level of maritime security.
