President Adama Barrow Implements Major Cabinet Reshuffle in The Gambia

The cabinet reshuffle conducted by President Adama Barrow on Friday, 15th March 2024, brings significant changes to the government lineup in The Gambia:

1. Dr. Ismaila Ceesay, a political science lecturer and founder of the Citizens Alliance political party, is appointed as the new Minister of Information.

2. Abdoulie Sanyang, former Inspector General of Police, is now appointed as Minister of Interior.

3. Nani Juwara, former managing director of NAWEC, becomes the new Minister of Energy and Petroleum.

4. Haddy Jatou Sey, a development specialist and sociology graduate, is appointed as Minister of Basic and Secondary Education.

5. Ousman Sowe, former Minister of Lands & Regional Government, is reassigned to Director General, State Intelligence Services.

6. Hamat N.K. Bah, former Minister of Tourism & Culture, is redeployed to the Ministry of Lands & Regional Government as Minister of Lands & Regional Government.

7. Abdoulie Jobe, former Minister of Petroleum & Energy, is redeployed to the Ministry of Tourism & Culture.

8. Mr. Seedy Muctar Touray, current Director General of The Gambia Immigration Department, is appointed Inspector General of The Gambia Police Force, while Immigration Commissioner, Mr. Bai Ebrima Mboob, is appointed Director General, Gambia Immigration Department.

9. Mr. Lamin Jadama, former Director General, State Intelligence Services, is reassigned to the Foreign Service, and Mr. Ousman Sowe is appointed Director General, State Intelligence Services.

10. Mr. Galo Saidy is appointed Managing Director, National Water & Electricity Company.

11. Mr. Mambangick Njie, former Special Adviser, is redeployed to the Foreign Service, and Mr. Momodou Sabally is appointed Special Adviser, Office of the President.

12. Dr. Yusupha Y. Jobe is relieved of his appointment as Director General of Public Utility Regulatory Authority, and Dr. Njogou N. Bah is appointed Director General, Public Utility & Regulatory Authority.

These changes take effect from Friday, 15th March 2024.
