Demba Sabally, you wore your best Haftan to threaten elected officials and citizens? Seriously? I quote:
“I have observed politicians such as Rohey Malick Lowe attending the march with the intent to incite the children. If this behavior continues, we will handcuff her and put her in the cell. Regardless of whether you are a Mayor or a Chairman, the law takes precedence over anyone. Additionally, we have seen politicians like Essa Faal following the children to the police stations and West Field, where instead of encouraging them to respect the law, they are promoting lawlessness. No one is above the law in this country. If Essa Faal returns to West Field during the protest, the NPP government will handcuff him and put him in the cell.” Demba Sabally, KERR FATOU reported !
That Haftan should have been worn in the rice fields with farmers, not at a political rally where you stood puffed up like a Chief Prosecutor for the NPP. You are not the IGP, not a Magistrate, and certainly not the Constitution.
Who gave you the authority to threaten Mayor Rohey Malick Lowe, an elected official with a mandate from the people? You? A Minister who serves at the mercy of the President? Sit down. You don’t get to handcuff democracy just because your ego can’t handle public resistance.
As for Essa Faal, he doesn’t need your permission to walk the streets of his country. His presence at the protest is not “lawlessness” it’s what standing with the people looks like. And if you’re foolish enough to try arresting him, be prepared for a Constitutional showdown you can’t win. Essa doesn’t even need a lawyer, he is one.
You say no one is above the law? Then start with your own Government. Where was your voice when auctioned looted state assets vanished? When public funds were looted? When tractors, vehicles, and land meant for the people ended up in private hands? You were silent then, but loud now. Why? Because the people are rising.
So yes, wear your Haftan. But next time, wear it to apologize to the nation for the failures in your Sector. Wear it to face Farmers whose lives you’ve ignored. And wear it when the truth catches up with you, because this Generation is no longer afraid.
Your threats are noted. But the people are awake. And we don’t bow to cowards in designer Haftans.
