Defense Minister Sering Modou Njie has pledged to investigate allegations regarding ID card issues in Foni. The commitment to the investigation arose when a Foni resident claimed during the late Duwa Badgie’s funeral that Foni residents face marginalization in obtaining national identification cards.
Expressing frustration, the resident stated that since 2017, Foni residents have been denied ID cards, despite being Gambians. The Minister of Defense responded by expressing doubt about the allegations and promised to conduct a thorough investigation.
Asserting that all Gambians have the right to national documents as per the constitution, the defense minister emphasized that if the claims are true, those responsible will face justice. He reiterated that every citizen has the constitutional right to obtain such documents and assured that the matter will be thoroughly investigated.
